February 28- March 4 Dr. Seuss Week

Dear Parents:
  This week we will reviewing for our third quarter evaluation. Evaluations will take place next week, the content to be evaluated is listed below. Please review with your child at home 15-20 minutes a day.

* Reading Readiness:

Your child should be able to name and recognize colors and shapes. Your child should also be able to recognize his/her first name.

Colors: red, blue, yellow, green, orange, brown, black, white, pink, purple, gray.

Shapes: square, circle, triangle, rectangle, diamond, heart and oval.

* Language Development:

Your child should be able to name the vocabulary for the following themes:
  • Transportation
  • Careers
  • Sports
  • Feelings and Valentines
* Physical Development:
Your child should be able to color within the lines and cut paper (snipping).

Please refer to older posts on this blog when reviewing with your child at home. Thank you for all your support and cooperation.

Theme: Nursery Rhymes. We will continue learning the Nursery Rhymes.

Character Education: Discipline. Our goal is: "I will follow the line."


Important Information
* This week we will celebrate Dr. Seuss Week. We will learn about his life, books and characters.

* When sending money to school with your child, remember to always send it inside a labeled envelope with your child's name on it and what the money is for.

DearParents :

This week we will cover the following:

Theme: Feelings and Valentines

Concepts and skills: Concept: Oval. Skills: Holding scissors correctly and snipping/cutting paper. We have also been practicing recognizing first names.

Vocabulary: happy, sad, scared, angry, surprised, valentine, love, friends, sharing, candy.

Character Education: Fairness. Our goal is :"I accept my friends as they are."

Important Information:

* Please sign and return report cards if you have not done so.

*This Friday is colors day, the cost is 5 Lps.

* Yearbook pictures will be taken this week. All students must wear their complete uniform and make sure that your child attends school on this day.

Dear Parents:

This week we will cover the following:

Theme: Feelings and Valentine's Day

Concepts and skills: Concept: Heart
Skill: Holding scissors correctly, and snipping/ cutting paper.

Vocabulary: happy, sad, scared, angry, surprised, valentine, love, friends, sharing, candy

Character Education: Fairness. Our goal is: I accept my friends as they are.
Important information:

*We will celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14th, and it will be a free colors day. Please have your child wear Valentine's Day colors. Your child may also bring treats to share today, if one is brought for every student in the class.

* To raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association, a T-Shirt Tie Dye activity will be held on February 17th. Each shirt will have a cost of Lps. 100.00. If your child will participate, please send the amount due in an envelope labeled with his/her name and grade.

* Yearbook pictures will be taken in February. Children must wear their complete school uniform on that day. Please take note of this important date to be sure your child attends school.

This week we will cover the following:

Theme: Sports

Concepts and skills: Rectangle and holding scissors correctly.

Vocabulary: tennis, soccer, basketball, baseball, bowling, swimming, racket, bat, net, pool.

Character Education: Fairness. Our goal is "I play with all my friends."


Important information:

*We will celebrate Valentine's Day next Monday, February 14th this day will be a free colors day. Please have your child wear Valentine's Day colors. Your child may also bring treats to share with all his/her classmates on this day. Please read the information on the letter posted below.





* Progress Reports corresponding to this marking period will go home on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. 

*Yearbook pictures will be taken in February. Children must wear their complete school uniform on that day. Please take note of this important date to be sure your child attends school.
